I. Department Overview
Authorized by the Ministry of Education in September 2003 to offer Master's degree program, the Department of Statistics has been recruiting graduate students in Statistics under the Program of Applied Economics since 2004. The Department was authorized to grant master's degrees in Statistics and Applied Statistics as first-level programs respectively in August 2011 and November 2018. Taking full advantage of the unique advantages of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone and Shenzhen University, after 16 years of unremitting efforts, the Department of Statistics has gradually established a distinctive concentration. The Department has 1 professor, 4 associate professors, 4 assistant professors, among whom 8 hold doctoral degrees and there is one doctoral supervisor. Over the past five years, the Department has chaired three programs of the National Social Science Fund of China and National Natural Science Fund of China, one provincial key program, and five provincial- and ministerial-level programs, and won five provincial- and ministerial-level research awards. The faculty of the Department has published a series of important papers in important publications such as The Journal of Quantitative and Technical Economics, Statistical Research, and Journal of Statistical Software, of which more than 20 papers have been included in SSCI, and SCI/EI (JCR Q1, JCR Q2). A number of research results have been approved by the main leaders of the provincial and municipal party committee and adopted by relevant departments, and have been highly evaluated by the society. The Department has also made remarkable achievements in talent training. (1) Our graduate students have published academic papers on the Statistical Research, The Journal of Quantitative and Technical Economics, Nonlinear Dynamics and other prestigious journals in school. (2) They have won various awards, including the Award for Outstanding Winner at the 4th “CFFE Cup” National Financial and Derivatives Knowledge Competition for College Students, Second Prize at the 9th National Statistical Scientific Research Outstanding Achievement Award Competition and Top 100 Master's Theses in Guangdong.
